The Big Potato is ramping up for some exciting new projects!

For those who haven’t been there, The Big Potato Foundation has not only the Billie Dean Apopka Community Garden, but also a studio and workshop location on E. Station Street in Apopka. If you have not been there in a while, you’ll see that the talented David Jordan has been working hard to give it a makeover, and it’s looking great! We’re excited to be moving forward on some new projects, both in the studio and out and about!

Classes, workshops, and meetup groups!

We are now ready to host workshops, classes, and meetups in our space. Workshops will include such topics as puppetry, art, canning, gardening, and anything that compliments our mission of bringing community together through creativity.

If you have a workshop you’d like to teach, contact us at mail@thebigpotatofoundation.org!

The Big Potato Podcasts!

Coming soon…The Big Potato Foundation will be hosting podcasts on topics that relate to our Central Florida Community, our environment, local business and local arts along with some proposed silliness and shenanigans! Topic, guest, and sponsor suggestions welcome!

Endangered species storytelling!

We are developing a multimedia show for children and families utilizing the artistic and storytelling talents of resident artist Joe Quillsong and puppet artist and performer David Jordan to tell/teach stories of endangered species and how humans can help. It is our aim to bring this show to schools, libraries, and educational functions around the U.S.

Water Protectors Parade and beach cleanups!

This interactive parade experience uses endangered species puppetry, music, and percussion to educate and invite children and families to help keep our oceans, lakes and streams clean, clear and safe. The project will be present at festivals, camps, and municipal and environmental events and children will be encouraged to participate in parades. The focus of this experience will be centered around protecting our precious water resources.

Community garden meetups and workshops!

These will be designed to bring together like minded people who grow food, protect and propagate pollinators, and are interested in all aspects of community agriculture. Regular meetups will encourage participants to network and share resources in agriculture and permaculture.
